Background

‘Keep Mull Moving’ (KMM) is a sub-group of Mull Community Council set up in 2005 to campaign against Argyll & Bute Council's proposals to impose weight, width and length restrictions on the side roads throughout the Isle of Mull.

Following pressure from KMM, Argyll & Bute Council commisioned an Economic Impact Study, carried out in 2006, which concluded that any such restrictive measures would have a devastating economic effect on an already fragile economy and infrastructure, with the loss of 261 jobs across all sectors, which represents some 20% of the employed population

The ‘Keep Mull Moving’ campaign then extended its remit to include all of the roads on the Isle of Mull with the intention of lobbying Argyll & Bute Council to secure desperately needed funding to improve the appalling and deteriorating road conditions on the Isle of Mull.

Keep Mull Moving also hope to persuade Argyll & Bute Council and the Scottish Government to recognize the importance of developing a much needed long term strategy and investment plan for the island in order to secure its future.
